Verified ReviewerRing doorbell caught on fire and incompetent customer service
I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the handling of my recent issue regarding my Ring doorbell, which caught fire on September 16, 2024. After charging the device and attempting to install it, the Ring doorbell ignited unexpectedly.
I promptly contacted customer service, providing the requested photos and videos, and returned the damaged device for examination. I was assured that a replacement would be sent within three to five days. However, a week has passed, and I have not received the new device. During my follow-up call, I spoke with a representative named Charen, who is extremely incompetent.
She informed me that the device is currently out of stock and that I would need to wait for it to become available.
After requesting to speak with a supervisor fourteen times, I was finally transferred to Supervisor Rico after 32 minutes. I find this level of customer service unsatisfactory.

I am sick of companies lying and or intentional misrepresentation. It is unnecessary and should be unacceptable.
To use security devices and apps you are trusting them, with what could be your life.
So really do you want to trust a liar with your life or your property?
I recently purchased several cameras for my property. After several weeks I thought it would be prudent to also have doorbell camera. I looked at their site Thursday, July 11th and it was represented it would be delivered by Monday July 15th! I thought wow, this is great, saves me a trip to the store and I needed by Tuesday.
Well who do you think they are connected to but Amazon. So Monday mail arrives and no product, so I searched and searched and finally found a way to contact them. Out of country of course. No one cares that it won't arrive as promised.
Really, what are you going to do they already have your money! I am sick of companies lying. My best option is to refuse the package and dispute the charge with my credit card company. Ring seems to think I should accept the package and then pay to return it waiting until it is received and processed by them to receive a refund!
BS, I am done with this nonsense. If we continue to accept this behavior we are absolutely guaranteed to get more of it. I will definitely invest more time to vet the companies I do business with and try to find in country companies when ever possible even it cost more. The hassle is not worth any savings.
If the product could not be delivered by the date I needed, I would have purchased the product at a local store.
Now it is a big deal, at least to me. I will be looking at other alternatives even though it will cost me to do so, but I am not trusting my life or value of my property with a liar, whether it is an individual or company.

I had to disconnect the whole unit from the house in order to get the pin code. This was affixed by a professional installer. It still does not work because I can't put it back on the house.

In January of this year, 2024, I subscribed to the basic plan for the Ring doorbell. My reason for signing up was to have the video and Mode options.
I paid the subscription fee of $39.99 for the 1-year plan. As of yesterday, October 14, 2024, this option has been removed and Ring told me that my only option was to upgrade to the $100 per year plan.
I feel that this is a breach of contract, and the services that I have pre-paid for should be reinstated! I have also been reaching out to other friends who have described the same situation as having happened to them!

I ordered 2 Ring cameras and was told that I would receive my order by last Friday, the 27th of September. I understand delivery dates can't be exact, but to extend that by 3 weeks is unacceptable!
If I go to order 2 on the website now, it says I will get them on the 4th of October. That's almost two weeks sooner than what I am being told. I would like to know how this issue is going to be resolved.
When I, and other customers I'm sure, are shopping for birthday presents, we are really dependent on being able to rely on delivery dates. This has become way more stressful than it needs to be.

I find it very hard to believe I spent my hard-earned money and bought a ring alarm system off eBay that was used and I cannot use it because the original owner didn't unregister his name. In fact in lieu of this I've decided I'm going to smash my ring doorbell camera cancel the subscription I've had for it for the past 5 years in wash my hands of your company all together.
I was going to get the alarm Pro service tonight you would have had a good customer but instead since you can't unregister this device I have purchased off of a reputable platform I no longer want anything to do with your company. I don't want 30% off of a new one I want what I bought off eBay and if I can't have that then you just lost a lifetime worth of monthly payments from this customer
Mobile application can't connect
They addressed the unable to connect (due to a VPN issue) and I asked why I was unable to see off my web browser and after an hour of the rep putting me on hold I let them know that they were unable to resolve it and if they find a solution they are welcome to call me back , but my ear was soar from holding the phone up. They are very apologetic but in summary, while I'm not pissed (because they couldn't solve it) but I don't like having their tech support not address it directly. Having me go through a rep who has me try different things that don't work and re-request I hold on while they relay it is very frustrating
Update payment
But two weeks I have been updating my payment for Ring. It goes through two days later I get another notice of saying update and so on and so forth when I called the service the man said there was nothing he could do. I had to use the website, can I please talk to a live person that will accept my payment Please get back to me.

Camera new goes offline
Contemporary camera offline. New camera installed and it goes offline.
Please fix this!!! Purchased coverage for both cameras in July.
New payment card added. Was great working with Murphy, she went step by step and talked me through the process. With her help it was a painless process.
I am 70 and computer illiterate, and do not understand most instructions on websites. Have difficulty understanding instructions, unless they are in simple language.
Murphy walked me through this process, and I am Greatful that Your Company has her as an employee. She was calm knowledgeable and took all the time needed to complete this task.
User's recommendation: Product is dependable, technical support for install and reset obstacles were handled by calm courteous , knowledgeable Techs. Very professional and never got frustrated when I just didn’t understand instructions.
